About VTS Group

VTS Group is a leading, globally recognized European producer of ventilation and air conditioning equipment. VTS Capital Group, which has been operating since 1989, currently consists of several regional companies located around the world. The company’s headquarters are in Gdansk (Poland) and its manufacturing and manufacturing/logistics centers are situated in Poland, the US, India, the United Arab Emirates and China. VTS Group has 92 regional offices which provide services in 40 countries on five continents.

Business Challenges

In 2005, VTS decided to cooperate with Comarch S.A. in transferring their key internal systems to the Comarch Data Center in Krakow. The project anticipated the building of a dedicated equipment platform with full administration (at the database level) provided by Comarch engineers. Comarch also provides VTS with services relating to full IT environment back-up. Thanks to the involvement of VTS and Comarch, the project was completed successfully, which has resulted in long-term cooperation between the two companies in Data Center solutions. Here are some of the greater challenges that we had to face during the project’s implementation:

preparation of access to business applications for each customer’s premises,
updating the platform in 2012, and migration of the environment from dedicated server machines to a virtual environment with dedicated matrix (since the project’s inception, the environment has grown several times in terms of volume of data),
updating the mail servers from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2013, indirectly via the 2010 version,
migration of business applications and mail servers from customer’s premises to the Comarch Data Center, together with statements of dedicated network connections.

The main requirements for an environment are high availability and data security, because the hosted business applications are needed in the customer’s everyday work. Such a high level of service is guaranteed by the SLA.

Solution

Comarch is currently responsible for the administration and maintenance of the following components, which form part of the hosted IT platform:

servers and storage resources based on HP technology, included in the dedicated cloud computing service
operating Systems Microsoft Windows Server from the 2003 version to the 2012 R2 system
Microsoft SQL database in different versions and editions, Windows Server from the 2003 version to the 2012 R2
Mail software: Microsoft Exchange 2013
back-up based on Symantec solutions using the Comarch Central Back-up system
the access layer based on Citrix Metaframe
virtualization based on VMware software
