Artificial Intelligence Creates a New Dimension of Competitiveness – Jarosław Mikos for "Rzeczpospolita" at Impact '26
During this year's Impact '26 congress, the CEO of Comarch, Jarosław Mikos, granted an interview to the "Rzeczpospolita" daily. In his conversation with Artur Osiecki, he addressed key aspects of technological transformation, indicating that artificial intelligence redefines modern business, changes its geography, and alters the perception of enterprises.
A New Dimension of Business: From Experiments to the "Competitiveness Canyon"
The CEO of Comarch emphasized that the scale of changes brought by AI requires continuous awareness building among both managers and society as a whole. These tools have ceased to be merely a technological curiosity and have become the foundation of operational efficiency.
"Those who adapt and improve productivity thanks to AI will be more innovative and will become the authentic winners of the future," points out Jarosław Mikos.
At the same time, he drew attention to the risks associated with slowness in implementing new solutions. Companies that limit themselves solely to superficial experiments may lose their developmental momentum. As a result, we will no longer observe a mere gap in the market, but a deepening "competitiveness canyon" between innovation leaders and the rest of the field.
The Era of Agentization and the Evolution of Competencies
An important point of the discussion was the topic of so-called agentization, which represents another milestone in technological development. While previous copilot-type solutions primarily served a supporting function, AI agents signify a shift in emphasis toward independent action and the execution of end-to-end business processes. This translates into the autonomous optimization of operations on a large scale—from manufacturing to customer service.
Such a technological shift naturally transforms the competencies desired in the market. In tech industries, including software development, the key becomes not so much writing code itself, but understanding the broader business context and exercising oversight over systems.
"Someone will still have to press the 'accept' button at the end. A human should have the final say in the entire process," emphasizes the CEO of Comarch, pointing to the growing importance of the human-in-the-loop approach.
In a global context, Jarosław Mikos assesses the Polish market as well prepared for the ongoing changes. He emphasizes that domestic entrepreneurs have courage and openness to innovation in their "genetic code," which allows us to boldly participate in the global debate on AI.
Comarch as an "AI-First" Organization
The interview also included aspects regarding the internal transformation of Comarch, which adopted an "AI-first" strategy over a year ago. The process of adapting new tools within the organization proceeded extremely dynamically. Although initially the utilization rate of AI tools was 60–70 percent, it currently already exceeds 90 percent.
This success is the result of a management philosophy that Jarosław Mikos terms "managed freedom." It combines space for free experimentation with appropriate managerial navigation. The company is investing intensively in the development of its teams, among others, by launching its own AI academy and providing broad access to modern tools and tokens.
"My philosophy is simple: first, you have to throw all the puzzle pieces on the table so that the organization can learn how to arrange them," concludes Jarosław Mikos.
