e-invoicing for TUVTÜV SÜD AG, a leading provider of technical inspection and certification services with more than 24,000 employees in over 1,000 locations worldwide, has switched from 100% paper-based accounting to electronic invoicing within the scope of a large-scale digitization project. The chosen solution, Comarch E-Invoicing, could be implemented rapidly and provides the necessary flexibility to meet all requirements.

Initially, TÜV SÜD sent all invoices in paper form. As this fully paper-based process came with enormous costs, the company decided to switch to digital invoicing.

"TÜV SÜD chose Comarch as a partner, since they provided us with the opportunity to flexibly realize all of our requirements and to introduce e-invoicing in an agile approach. Furthermore, we were convinced by the high capacity of Comarch E-Invoicing because, for a company such as TÜV SÜD, quality comes first. We deliberately decided for a global service provider and partner who has a similar number of international locations and is familiar with the relevant markets," states Alexander Jelinek who is responsible for special projects at TÜV SÜD AG.

Quick Success Thanks to Agile Project Approach

In the course of the project, an e-invoicing portal for outgoing invoices was set up, following an agile project approach. Special attention was paid to establishing communication channels for the delivery of electronic invoices as well as to debtor onboarding. Moreover, the output of TÜV SÜD's own system was transmitted to the E-Invoicing platform in order for the transmission to be regulated by defined indicators and for recipient, output format, communication channel, etc. to be checked automatically. Within a timeframe of less than six months, the project was implemented swiftly and successfully. As a result, the E-Invoicing solution is fully available for global use by the TÜV SÜD companies and debtors.

Forgoing Paper Reduces Costs

"Before the implementation, we had to tediously print out every single invoice on paper and also execute all follow-up processes manually. Now, all of those processes are performed fully electronically. We are glad to have found a solution in Comarch E-Invoicing that saves us resources and costs in invoice dispatch and has simplified the entire process concerning outgoing invoices and accounts receivable," explains Alexander Jelinek.
For the future, TÜV SÜD plans to onboard further debtors as well as to connect other TÜV SÜD companies and their debtors.
