Comarch ECOD has been continuously expanding internationally. Last year we observed significant development in two regions: Western Europe and Asia. In France and Germany ECOD applications have already been localized and the e-archiving solution (ECOD Archive) was adjusted to local legal requirements. These resulted in increased interest and the acquisition of our first customers in the retail and automotive industry (Varta Batteries, Coppenrath & Wiese, Bolsius, VSM, Turm Sahne, Planam, OBO Bettermann, Ruwido, Lausitzer Früchte, etc.).

‘EDI technology has been used in Germany for several years and the penetration level on the market is high. However, e-invoices have become really important as companies are interested in cost reduction and therefore, we view it as opportunity to gain market share with our offer', says Tobias Busch, Consulting Director in Comarch Germany.

As for the Asian market, it is worth mentioning Vietnam where Comarch ECOD is the leading EDI provider with the number of customers now exceeding 200.

Besides these new regions, Comarch ECOD has strengthened its position in Central and Eastern Europe. Aside from the Romanian market where retailers are trying to catch up with neighboring countries, Bulgaria and Hungary have also have noted their first mass projects for the elimination of paper invoices and the implementation of electronic ones.

‘Last year was the year of the e-invoice in Bulgaria. We have noted dozens of companies deciding to replace paper invoices with electronic ones with Metro Cash & Carry and Piccadilly as the market pioneers', says Diana Gigova, Sales Manager at Eltrade, a partner of Comarch in Bulgaria.

For 2010, Comarch ECOD processed a total of 116 million documents exchanged by over 13000 companies - the advantages of the platform were appreciated by Gartner who highlighted Comarch ECOD in its ‘Gartner Magic Quadrant for Integration Service Providers'.
