Germany’s staged B2B e-invoicing introduction schedule extended
In a recent vote, Bundestag approved a plan to extend a schedule for introducing a nationwide e-invoice issuing mandate. The German parliament’s lower house lengthened the previously adopted plan by a whole year. According to the new timeline, the first stage of introducing the mandate shall enter into force on January 1st, 2025, with a countrywide obligation to accept structured e-invoices. This should conclude with final companies starting to issue e-invoices only by January 1st, 2027.
These considerations await approval from the parliament's upper house, the Bundesrat. Nevertheless, the bill is widely expected to pass without any hurdles.
