Dresden, 7/5/2011 – A new Comarch data center has been operational in Frankfurt am Main since July 1, 2011. To enable this, Comarch has called on the resources of e-shelter, a partner company that designs, builds, and operates high-availability data centers. e-shelter operates two separate sites in Frankfurt, which together form a twin data center compliant with the Tier 4 standard. The data center has been designed to meet the highest requirements in terms of availability, security, performance, and scalability and enables Comarch business solutions to be accessed on a Software as a Service (SaaS) basis together with infrastructure services.

The new data center allows German customers to use a domestically located IT infrastructure when obtaining data center services from Comarch – a basic prerequisite for collaboration with some customers. The new data center in Frankfurt also represents a further advance for Comarch's SaaS solutions. The Comarch Semiramis and Comarch Altum ERP solutions, InfoStore ECM document management system, and ECOD EDI solution can be offered as services from a premium-grade domestic data center.

The launch of a new site (in addition to the existing data centers in Poland and in Lille, France) also opens up new opportunities for global network management. For some Comarch Group customers, especially airlines, it is important that the back-up data center is located a significant distance (around 1,000 kilometers) away from the main data center and that it can take over operations should a disaster occur.

The new data center in Frankfurt meets the highest standards:

  • Tier 4 standard with a guaranteed availability of 99.995% (corresponding to a possible downtime of 6 minutes per year)
  • Designed as a twin data center (total area: 60,000 m2) at two physically separate sites (several kilometers apart)
  • Around-the-clock security management (24/7/365)
  • Fully redundant design in accordance with the Tier 4 standard
  • Fire-resistant building in accordance with the T90 classification
  • Redundant cooling system
  • Connectivity via 15 independent internet and telecommunication connections

Highest Quality Standards
This high-availability environment at a German site will enable Comarch to provide an even more comprehensive range of cloud services to the German market. This includes the provision of all service types (infrastructure, platform, software as a service) using a number of different delivery models (private, community, public, hybrid cloud). Customers can be offered a full range of options for availability, performance, response time, and recovery time in accordance with the individually agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

Rafal Glab, Business Unit Director for IT Infrastructure Germany, Austria, and Switzerland: - We have now been providing data center services to the German market for one and a half years. During this time, we have learned that German customers have strict requirements for data security and protection, as well as for the availability of the system environment. Our partnership with e-shelter is enabling us to meet the highest quality standards and further increase our market opportunities." Comarch CEO Prof. Filipiak added: "We are expanding our data center services to meet increasing demand in this area. Through the partnership with e-shelter, we are able to offer a full range of options to the German market even before the completion of our new data center in Dresden.
