BP had a large chain of service station stores and cafes (Wild Bean Cafe) which placed daily over 500 orders for food, chemical, pharmaceutical and tobacco products. Considering the heavy degree of human involvement, the amount of errors in documents as well as the inefficient use of paper
documents, BP decided to initiate an electronic document distribution project.
The EDI project was introduced to BP in 2006. The Comarch EDI platform (earlier Comarch ECOD platform) was enhanced with additional modules for processing documents from the BP system. After thorough tests with a selected partner, the electronic document distribution system was launched. In 2008, along with logistical changes within the BP chain (from the BP - wholesaler - producer model to the BP - logistician - producer model) the project was implemented using standard Comarch EDI platform modules.
