Comarch, a Polish software house has become an official technological partner of World Youth Day 2016. Under the contract signed with the Archdiocese of Kraków, Comarch will create a mobile application “Pilgrim,” which is meant to give assistance to the event’s participants. It will serve over 2.5 million pilgrims who will come to Kraków from all parts of the world.

The application will be available on all key mobile platforms. Not only will this system make it easier for pilgrims to function during the World Youth Day celebrations, but it will also provide them with necessary information concerning: the weather, transport, food, and healthcare. It will also contain access to religious reflections, prayers, and songs. Furthermore, it will be a source of practical information about the region, including useful Polish phrases.

Next summer Comarch’s solution will become an everyday companion of millions of young people from all over the world who will come to take part in WYD Kraków 2016.

World Youth Day was established in 1985 by the Polish Pope Saint John Paul II. It is interesting that John Paul II used to be a fan of Cracovia, the oldest Polish football club, which now belongs to Comarch Capital Group, the founder and CEO of which is Janusz Filipiak.

The last World Youth Day took place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in July 2013. For Comarch it is one of the strategic worldwide markets. The Brazilian customers of Comarch include: Azul Brazilian Airlines, which uses Comarch’s customer loyalty solution, and Telefónica, which has chosen Comarch to be its recommended provider of IT solutions for network configuration and planning.
