Comarch SmartCard Bio

Comarch has introduced biometric solutions in connection with the Comarch SmartCard cryptographic card. This significantly simplifies the use of the card as the user does not have to remember the often complicated PIN. Among others, Comarch SmartCards are used to authorize transactions in the Comarch Internet Banking (CIB) system.

The Comarch SmartCard Bio cryptographic card

The concept, which centers on the use of biometrics in Comarch electronic banking, is based on the use of the fingerprint as an element, which secures access to the private key, which is stored on the cryptographic card (equivalent of the PIN on cash cards). The fingerprint secures access to the whole content of the cryptographic card regardless of the number of keys stored on it.

Three private key access options are available:

  • user fingerprint,
  • user PIN,
  • fingerprint + user PIN.

One of the above options can be chosen using the Comarch Internet Banking system.

Comarch provides special cryptographic cards, Comarch SmartCards, so that the user’s fingerprint can be used to gain access to the private key. Apart from the programming, which handles PKI, the cards have an additional biometric module responsible for the secure storage of the fingerprint pattern as well as for carrying out fingerprint accuracy verification. Thanks to the use of Match-On-Card technology, the pattern never leaves the cryptographic card. Operations are verified directly on the card.
