Business scorecards

The Business Scorecard (BSC) tool in Comarch ALTUM allows you to monitor and track your progression towards achieving your company’s goals. After creating a set of key performance indicators (KPI) with which to monitor the company’s processes, your whole team can use the easy to read graphical interface to see where you stand:

  • Actual data – sourced directly from the Comarch ALTUM system. Data can be entered manually, for example, if you decide to examine indicators such as customer satisfaction based on data such as a questionnaire or survey results.

  • Target values – set for your performance indicators. These could be set manually (i.e. achieve the greatest market share in the segment) or automatically using data already existing in the system (i.e. cost level taken from the previous year or the budgeted value of your sales) or calculations (i.e. cost level from the previous year multiplied by the change in the number of your employees).

  • Indicator status – a graphical representation of how close you are to achieving your goals. For example you can set the indicator status to display a green light if your company is well ahead of a target, an orange light to indicate that sales are running at last year’s target, and a red light to indicate that sales are unsatisfactory. You’re able to set your own thresholds for each KPI status which defines your level of tolerance for it.

  • Trends – this icon indicates an improvement or deterioration in your key performance indicator as compared to a previous period (sales are rising, costs are falling) with either an upwards, or downwards pointing arrow.

  • Graphs– display the change in the level of each KPI over time.

Key Performance Indicators (KPI) can be grouped into categories, such as those recommended by Dr Robert S Kaplan and Dr. David P Norton in their book, “The Balanced Scorecard”. An example scorecard may contain:

  • Financial perspective – KPIs such as market share, the real margin you achieved, sales figures, or the relationship of receivables overdue for more than sixty days to all receivables.
  • Customer perspective – KPI’s such as customer satisfaction level, frequency and dollar amount of customer purchases, and brand recognition.
  • Internal process perspective – Indicators such as the total number of products your company offers, increased productivity, or the average time taken to fill an order.
  • Innovation and learning perspective – Indicators such as the number of new products, number of strategic skills learned, R&D as a % of sales, etc.

This feature gives you clear and concise data concerning your company’s current situation on the basis of strictly defined business goals that are more balanced than sales and costs alone.

With Comarch ALTUM you also have the power to perform cross-analyses of your Key Performance Indicators. For example:

  • Data on Receivables can be cross-referenced with sales territory, sales representative, or customers,
  • Cost indicators can be broken down by organizational units of the company,
  • Sales indicators can be displayed according to territory, product, or sales representative.

Business Scorecards empower and motivate your employees by allowing them to see not only organizational goals, but also, their individual impact on your company’s path to success in a user-friendly interface with icons, graphs and trend indicators.
